Two more Baptists persecuted in Kazakhstan

Aktobe, Kazakhstan

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In the evening of 04.02.2015 Vasily D. Kleever, churchman of our congregation in the city of Aktobe (Republic of Kazakhstan), received a phone call from the neighborhood police inspector who warned him of his arrest on the next day.

Police came in the morning and took Brother Vasily to court. The court ruled to put him under arrest for five days for the non-payment of a formerly imposed fine of 50 minimal salaries amounting to 92,600 tenge (over 500 US Dollars) charged for participation in the activities of an unregistered religious community.

Let us pray to the Lord so that He gives strength to our Brother and so that his bondage contributes to the success of evangelism. Let our Lord gain glory in all of this.

Uralsk, Kazakhstan

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On 26.01.2015, at about 2 p.m., our Brother Kenzhetay K. Baitinov was on a trip to the local market on his personal business and was concurrently performing his evangelical service by handing out treatises. He was approached by a security guard who led him to the administrative office of the market. From there K.K. Baitinov was taken to the Department for Religious Affairs of West Kazakhstan Region where an administrative offense report was drawn up against him under Part 3 of Article 490 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Missionary activities performed without due registration (re-registration), as well as use of religious literature, information materials of religious nature and items of religious purpose without favorable conclusion made on the basis of a theological expert examination; dissemination of doctrinal statements of the religious associations that are not registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan”).

As a result, K.K. Baitinov was sentenced to a fine of 50 minimal salaries, the fifth imposed on him in the last two years, all of them now totaling to almost 2,800 US Dollars.

The Church of Uralsk asks for your prayers for the removal of all obstacles to evangelism in Kazakhstan and for the termination of the persecution against Brother K. K. Baitinov.
